FAQ at #TAXI | Call #TAXI (#8294) on your mobile phone for a cab in the U.S. and Canada

#TAXI connects callers to the first available taxi company by simply dialing #TAXI (#-8-2-9-4) on a mobile phone. Once called, #TAXI finds and connects callers using #TAXI’s optimized search engine and its proprietary database of 10,000 taxi firms rated by size, quality and specialization across Canada and the US. Busy signals and frustrating repeat dialing are avoided because #TAXI does not release the call until the caller is connected.

CellWand Communications, the creator of #TAXI, has developed a customized and free dedicated version of its #TAXI service for Diageo Canada. This service will be is available via a customized BlackBerry App and a corporate 1-800 number for all other registered mobile phones (see details below).

In 2011, as part of this partnership, Diageo Canada and #TAXI are working together to enhance Diageo Canada’s role as a leader in promoting a positive role for alcohol in society and responsible drinking.

3. What Are the Diageo Canada #TAXI Services?

Employees now have access to a customized version of #TAXI either on their corporate BlackBerry by going here, or employees can use the Diageo Canada #TAXI Mobile service by registering to use a specific Corporate 1-800 number that has been dedicated to Diageo Canada employees here.

4. How Does the Diageo Canada #TAXI Mobile App Work?

Once you have gone to (http://www.poundtaxi.com/diageo) and downloaded the app by clicking on the Download Here Icon,

you are just a few steps away from being able to get a taxi anywhere, anytime across Canada with this handy app.

1. Enter or approve your mobile number as shown below so you can be located just so we can quickly call the first available taxi company dispatch to pick you up.

2. Give the application ‘trusted status’ on your BlackBerry if you are prompted to do so. Also, please ensure that your privacy setting is turned off so that your phone’s caller ID is available to enable The Diageo Canada #TAXI service.

Please note: Privacy setting is used to block your phone number and lists you as a Private Caller. We need your phone number and “Trusted Status” to enable the Diageo TAXI service. Your location and number is used strictly for the purpose of getting you a taxi quickly and easily. Your location data and phone number is not and will not be used for any other purpose.

3. An icon will then appear on your BlackBerry that looks like this: that you click to launch the Diageo Canada #TAXI Mobile App. Once clicked, you will get the first screen you see just below and when you click “Get a TAXI” the first time you will have to input your mobile phone number two times. This step is a one-time action to enable the service. From then on after clicking “Get a TAXI” you will see a little moving taxi image while the Service locates you. Once located you simply press CALL, and the Diageo #TAXI Mobile App will call the first available taxi company.

5. How Do I Register to Start Using the Diageo Canada #TAXI 1-800 Service?

If you have a mobile phone or a non-Blackberry smartphone you are needed to go to the Diageo Canada #TAXI 1-800 service registration web landing page http://www.poundtaxi.com/diageotaxi1800 and register the following information to enable the service.

1. Diageo Canada employee signs up online, providing:

a. Name

b. Area code + Mobile phone number

c. Wireless Carrier

d. Diageo Canada Department drop down list (Demand or Supply)

Once completed you are ready to call the service using the 1-800 number provided… it’s that simple.

6. How Does the Diageo Canada #TAXI 1-800 Work?

1. Diageo Canada employees, once registered, call the 1-800 number.
2. The caller will be prompted for City and Province after being thanked for “Drinking Responsibly and using the Diageo Canada #TAXI 1800 Service”. Once located, the employee is connected to the first available taxi company dispatch anywhere across Canada.

7. Diageo Canada Corporate Policy
There is no cost to Diageo Canada employees to be connected to the first available taxi company. If it is a business related taxi trip, sign-off from your Line Manager is required to expense. Otherwise, fares are not paid for by Diageo Canada.
